Κοτρωνιάς και Θ. Μαστροβασίλης έχουν το πάνω χέρι
Θανάσης Μαστροβασίλης και Βασίλης Κοτρωνιάς με 4,5 βαθμούς μοιράζονται την πρώτη θέση στο κλειστό τουρνουά «Ακρόπολις 2003». Ο Ρουμάνος Παρλίγκρας που μέχρι και τον 6ο γύρο ισοβαθμούσε στην πρώτη θέση, γνώρισε την ήττα με αντίπαλο τον Δημήτρη Μαστροβασίλη και έμεινε στην 3η θέση μαζί με τον Ανδρέα Τζερμιαδιανό που νίκησε τον Βόσνιο γκραν μετρ Σουάτ Αταλίκ. Στους δύο γύρους που απομένουν ο Θανάσης Μαστροβασίλης χρειάζεται 1 βαθμό και ο Ανδρέας Τζερμιαδιανός 1,5 βαθμό για να κάνουν νόρμα γκραν μετρ.
Χέρι – χέρι πηγαίνουν Ροζεντάλις και Αβρούκ στο «όπεν» τουρνουά των ανδρών. Μετά τον 7ο γύρο έχουν από 6 βαθμούς. Τους δύο πρωτοπόρους καταδιώκουν Γκέρσον (Ισραήλ), Καπνίσης και Ντομπρόβ (Ρωσία).
Στο «όπεν» τουρνουά των γυναικών Βόϊσκα και Ντέμπο ξαναβρέθηκαν στην κορυφή. Η Βόϊσκα «στραβοπάτησε» με την Κρίβετς χάνοντας μισό βαθμό και η Ουγγαρέζα γκραν μετρ νίκησε την Γεωργιανή Χουρτσίτζε. Τις δύο πρωτοπόρες καταδιώκουν με μισό βαθμό διαφορά, Κρίβετς (Σλοβενία) και Βέρα Παπαδοπούλου.
Οι αγώνες διεξάγονται καθημερινά στο ξενοδοχείο «President» (ώρα έναρξης 4 μ.μ).

Day 7:
Kotronias, Th. Mastrovassilis Take The Upper Hand
Vassilis Kotronias of Cyprus and Thanassis Mastrovassilis of Greece share the pole position in the rankings of the Grand Masters section of the 2003 Acropolis Tournament with 4.5 points each, following Round 7 of the competition. Rumania's Mircea Parligras, who was in first place after Round6, lost to Greece's Dimitris Mastrovassilis and dropped to 3rd place together with Andreas Tzermiadianos who defeated Bosnia's Grand Master Suat Atalik. In the remaining two rounds of play, Thanassis Mastrovassilis needs one point and Andreas Tzermiadianos needs 1.5 points to achieve their norm.
Rozentalis of Lithuania and Avrukh of Israel compete hand-in-hand in the Men's Open section. They each have six points following round 7 and are followed by Kapnisis of Greece, Dobrov of Russia.
In the Women's Open Voiska of Bulgaria and Dembo of Hungary returned to the top of the rankings after Round 7. Voiska lost half a point against Slovenia's Krivec and Hungary's Grand Master defeated Georgia's Khurtsidze. The two leaders are challenged by Krivec and Papadopoulou (Greece), who follow half a point behind.
Competition continues daily at the "President" Hotel in Athens, with matches starting at 16:00 local time (13:00 GMT). A total of 112 players from 20 countries are competing in the three tournaments.
