May-25 We have added some details on how you can get from the airport to the hotel.
May-15 We received 85 entries of decent quality for the Pantelis Martoudis Memorial Ty and we expect that the award will be ready by the end of August. The results booklet will also include the award of last year's Halkidiki Internet Ty and it will be given, as a little gift, to all congress participants.

On a side note, Pavlos Moutecidis is celebrating his 75 years with a Jubilee Ty, for which he is asking for selfmates in 8 to 20 moves, where all white and black pieces move during the solution. Especially for white pieces only, it is allowed these to be captured during the solution, insted of moving. Please note that there is a total prize fund of 1,000 EUR! Send your compositions either by post to Pavlos Moutecidis, P.O. Box 10604, GR-54110, Thessaloniki, Greece, or via e-mail to Kostas Prentos, by 7th of November (Pavlos' birthday).
May-10 We plan to have a Quick (Solving) Show this year on Tuesday evening, 6th of September, an idea invented by Ivan Jarolín in 2001 that is quite popular mainly in Slovakia. Please check the rules in the solving news page.

We are also glad that Petko Petkov will compose all the fairy twomovers for the Fairy Solving Show, like he did last year for the Halkidiki congress. The event is scheduled for Wednesday evening, 7th of September.
Apr-25 We invite all those interested in giving a lecture, to let us know about it. Lectures are scheduled for Monday evening, 5th of September. In the event that all lectures do not fit in a single evening, we will arrange to have a second part on Tuesday evening, 6th of September. Please let us know in advance the topic you wish to present and the expected duration of your lecture. Take also note that the video projector for the Solving Shows will be always available during the congress, so if you feel like preparing a neat Powerpoint presentation, you are more than welcome!
Apr-15 Some participants organize informal composing tourneys during the WCCC's. If you plan such a tourney this year in Eretria, you could send us the theme in advance and we will be glad to include the announcement in the congress material for all participants. Please advise theme, possible example and closing date / time, keeping in mind that the prize giving ceremony is scheduled for Friday afternoon, 9th of September.
Apr-10 We are glad to announce that Brian Stephenson will be the Director of the 29th World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC), assisted by Peter Bakker, Christopher Jones and Ward Stoffelen. All four are very well experienced in WCSC's and we will do our best to help them in organising a successful championship. The same team will also arrange the Open Solving Tourney. For further details, please have a look at the solving news dedicated page.
Feb-16 We issued the official announcement of the congress today. Eretria and the island of Evia, in general, is a well-appointed holiday area and the weather during this period is still excellent. The Eretria Village Resort and Conference Centre have a long-standing tradition in domestic and international congresses. The Greek School Chess Championship and the World Chess Championship for visually impaired persons were held at this venue earlier this year.

Be reminded that the Halkidiki congress website is still available here!
