Oct-27 The final bulletin is available now. Download it from here.
Oct-23 We uploaded the full set (problems, solutions and results) of the solving competitions. The PDF file with the awards of the composing tournaments will be made available in a couple of days.
Oct-15 Three new tournaments are announced: Champagne by Michel Caillaud and Moskovskaya Matreshka by Valery Gurov (open only to congress participants) and Sabra by Menachem Witztum. See the composing page for details.
Oct-11 A new composing tournament is announced by the Ukrainian Association of Chess Composers.

Prizegiving of the PCCC-50 Composing Festival and presentation of the compositions that received top places will be held during the lectures on Monday evening, October 18th.
Oct-4 Endgame studies enthusiasts should not miss the 3rd ARVES Jenever composing tourney.

Take note that PCs will not be available for testing this year, as nowadays most problemists have a laptop or a notebook. There is wireless Internet in the hotel, but they charge for it.
Sep-27 We uploaded the announcement of the long composing tourney. Many thanks to Christopher Reeves who set the theme and will judge the #2 section of the quick composing tourney, as well as to Brian Stephenson, Ward Stoffelen and Marco Bonavoglia who will act as the Open solving tournament and WCSC assistants.
Sep-19 Dan Meinking has updated the CapZug definition to be more precise, and Peter Gvozdják announces the 22nd (!) Spišská Borovička tourney. Details on the composing news page.
Sep-17 A new tournament, sponsored by the Good Companions, is announced asking for help-CapZug problems.

Sep-15 Time for the 8th Romanian Tzuica tourney, which traditionally asks for help-selfmates or help-selfstalemates. If you have not informed us yet about your check-in and check-out dates, please do so the soonest possible.
Sep-10 Diyan Kostadinov announces the 1st Bulgarian Wine tourney for #2 and h#2 using a new kind of kings. Many thanks to Živko Janevski who will set the theme and judge the h#2 section of the quick composing tourney, as well as to Chris. Feather who will judge the 5-days composing tourney.
Aug-31 New registrations keep coming, while Tadashi Wakashima announces the 10th Japanese Sake tourney, which asks for h#2 with a new exotic fairy condition.

Jul-31 We invite all those interested in giving a lecture, to let us know about it. Lectures are scheduled for Monday evening, October 18th. Please let us know in advance the topic you wish to present and the expected duration of your lecture.
Jun-30 Quite many participants organize informal composing tourneys during the WCCCs. If you plan such a tourney this year in Crete, you could send in the theme in advance (at least three weeks before the congress starts) and we will be glad to include the announcement in the congress material for all participants. Please advise theme, possible example and closing date / time, keeping in mind that the prize giving ceremony is scheduled for Friday noon, October 22nd. Do not forget to indicate whether participation is allowed via e-mail also to those not attending the congress!
Apr-25 We are glad to announce that Axel Steinbrink will be the controller of the 34th World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC). For further details, please have a look at the solving news dedicated page.
Feb-8 We issued the official announcement of the congress today. Crete is the largest and southernmost of the Greek islands, while Heraklio is the fifth largest city of Greece and the capital of Crete, located about halfway along the northern coast of the island. In the past the region was the host of one of the most important civilizations in the world, the Minoan civilization. The weather during October is still excellent.
