ACROPOLIS OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT 2004

Regulations:
9 round Swiss system FIDE rated tournament, maximum 60 players, GM & IM title norms possible, FIDE time-control (90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 15 minutes until the end of the game plus an incremental time of 30 seconds per move from move 1). Tie-break criteria: a. sum of progressive scores, b. Buchholz, c. Sonnenborg-Berger. FIDE rules apply.

Prizes (in EUR):
1st: 2.000, 2nd: 1.400, 3rd: 900, 4th: 600, 5th: 500, 6th: 400, 7th: 300, 8th: 300, 9th-10th: 250 each, 11th-15th: 200 each, 16th-20th: 150 each.
Juniors U20 (born 1/1/1984 and later): 1st: 200, 2nd: 150, 3rd: 100.
Veterans (born 31/12/1944 and earlier): 1st: 300, 2nd: 200, 3rd: 100.
Greek players: 1st: 300, 2nd: 250, 3rd: 200, 4th-5th: 150 each, 6th: 100.
In case of a tie prizes are divided equally between the tied players.
If a player is entitled to more than one prizes he receives all of them.

Registration: Registration deadline: October 29, 2004. The Acropolis open tournament is limited to 60 participants. Minimum required FIDE rating 2100. Every participation must be confirmed by the GCF. The Organizing Committee therefore reserves the right to decline applications at any stage, even before the deadline expires.

Entry Fee: 40 euros (30 euros for players born 1/1/1984 and later).
GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs free of entry fee.
